Specific Content For Mobile Pro for Device-Specific Content
Specific Content For Mobile Pro lets you prepare a mobile version of a WordPress page or post. Visitors use the same public URL on desktop and mobile: the add-on displays the desktop content on desktop devices and the related mobile content on mobile devices. It does not redirect users or generate AMP markup.
One public URL, with content selected by device
Specific Content For Mobile Pro lets you prepare a mobile version of a WordPress page or post. Visitors use the same public URL on desktop and mobile: the add-on displays the desktop content on desktop devices and the related mobile content on mobile devices. It does not redirect users or generate AMP markup.
This setup is useful when a particular page needs different wording or structure for mobile visitors. Logged-in visitors can use an additional mobile-version URL for testing; logged-out visitors use the original public URL.
Create a mobile version in the editor
In the WordPress admin area, open Pages or Posts and find the entry to adapt. Choose Create mobile version from its action links, or select the plus icon in the devices column. Edit the mobile version and save it. Use the same process for a blog post.
Pro controls for mobile devices
Pro extends device-specific publishing beyond the basic page and post process. It supports:
- Mobile versions for supported queriable post types.
- A different theme for mobile devices.
- Unloading selected plugins on mobile devices.
- A setting to decide whether tablets count as mobile devices.
- Different mobile navigation.
- Specific content based on the device.
- Premium support.
Metadata and cache behavior
By default, desktop and mobile versions share post metadata. Saving either version synchronizes its metadata to the related version. In the plugin options, you can allow mobile versions to have their own metadata and pick synchronization behavior for popular SEO extensions.
If the site uses server caching, configure separate cache handling for mobile devices. Without that distinction, a cached mobile version could be served to desktop visitors. A cache plugin with mobile-cache management can handle the device distinction. Do not configure mobile redirects for this plugin.
Templates and developer hooks
Custom mobile template files can go in wp-content/themes/theme-name/scfm/ or wp-content/scfm/. The plugin checks the theme’s scfm folder first, then the shared wp-content/scfm/ folder.
Themes can declare support for mobile content on the blog page. Developers can also use eos_scfm_related_desktop_id() and eos_scfm_related_mobile_id() to retrieve the related post IDs, or use the eos_scfm_meta_integration_array filter to add metadata synchronization settings for another plugin.
