PDF Ink is the paid version of PDF Ink Lite for WordPress sites that deliver digital files. It applies configured watermarks and protection to PDF downloads from WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads and Download Monitor. Shortcodes can also make PDF download links on any page without an e-commerce extension.

Set rules for products and pages

Use one watermark and password configuration for all PDFs, or set different rules for a product or product variation. Choose a starting page, an end page, every page, odd or even pages, or specific page ranges. These settings can leave a cover unmarked or limit a watermark to selected pages.

Place multiple watermarks anywhere on a page, with rotatable positions. Adjust their opacity or make them fully hidden. Right-to-left text, uploaded fonts and hooks for further font customization are supported.

Personalize and format watermark text

Watermarks can include a customer's first and last name, email, phone number, business name, address, order number, paid date, product name and purchased quantity. Filter hooks allow additional customer data to be added; doing so may require PHP coding.

Format text with supported HTML such as links, bold, italic and alignment. Set font color and style, wrap long lines or force line breaks. QR codes and other barcodes can also be used in watermarks.

Protect and deliver files

PDF Ink supports passwords, anti-copy and anti-print protections, AES encryption and additional file protection options. You can keep or add file metadata, edit or add PDF annotations, add embedded streams and edit outgoing URI links. Website links can be preserved in watermarked PDFs, though internal table-of-contents links may not always work.

The plugin can watermark PDFs inside ZIP files and add custom text to EPUB ebooks. You can embed marked or encrypted files on a page. Stamped files can be retained, reused for later downloads to conserve CPU, or scheduled for deletion.

PDF Ink also supports inline PDF manipulation on PHP-based sites. A separate testing suite lets you preview a watermark or test a file from the WordPress administration panel before using the settings with customer downloads.

Configure and test a download

1. Install and activate PDF Ink in WordPress.
2. Choose global settings or add watermark and password rules for a product or variation.
3. Set page coverage, position, formatting and customer data.
4. Test the generated file before making it available to customers.
