Plan WordPress backups and site moves
Prime Mover PRO extends the backup and migration workflow for single-website and multisite WordPress installations. From the WordPress administration area, you can create, manage, transfer, and restore packages when moving sites between hosts, servers, domains, local environments, and live environments.
Install and activate the plugin, then open its administration screens to prepare a backup or migration. For recurring backups, set a schedule for a single site or multisite installation. Before creating a package, adjust its migration parameters and choose which documents and database tables to include.
Configure package contents and storage
Move the backup location outside the WordPress public directory. Encryption can be applied to the database, media directory, plugin files, and theme files in backups or migration packages.
- Exclude plugins, including network-activated plugins on multisite installations.
- Exclude upload-directory files to reduce package size.
- Exclude unused database tables created by inactive plugins.
- Export and restore packages from Dropbox, or save and restore packages from and to Google Drive.
Choose a migration route
Prime Mover works with moving a single-site installation to another single-site server, moving a single site into an existing multisite subsite, moving a multisite subsite to another multisite subsite, and moving a multisite subsite to a single-site installation. PRO also supports exporting and restoring a multisite main site. Packages can move directly from site to site or through Dropbox and Google Drive.
For multisite administration, create a new subsite with a specific blog ID. Network maintenance can be disabled so that only the affected subsite enters maintenance mode. The plugin also supports legacy multisites and migrations between non-UTF8 and standard UTF8 database charsets, including utf8mb4.
Restore packages and manage settings
Use the administration screens to manage packages and access complete restoration options, along with basic and advanced settings. These controls let you set package contents, storage, and migration parameters for the task at hand.
Environment requirements
The plugin works with Nginx, Apache, LiteSpeed, Microsoft IIS, and localhost environments. It supports PHP 5.6 to 8.5+; the Google Drive feature requires PHP 7.4 or later.
