Translate add-on and theme strings

LocoAI Pro, also called the LocoAI Premium License, adds automatic translation to the Loco Translate editor. Choose a provider to translate translatable strings in a WordPress add-on or theme, then review and edit the results in the editor. The addon handles extension and theme strings; it does not automatically translate page or post content.

Provider access by edition

Both the free and paid editions include Yandex Translate, Chrome built-in AI, and Edge built-in AI. The paid Pro edition adds ChatGPT, Gemini, Google Translate, DeepL document translation, OpenAI, and Ollama Cloud. Supported languages depend on the selected provider.

Yandex Translate and Chrome or Edge built-in AI do not require a provider API key. Browser AI requires a compatible desktop browser, a secure connection, and language packs for the selected language pair. The ChatGPT process does not require an API key. Gemini, OpenAI, Ollama Cloud, and DeepL document translation require their own API keys. DeepL document translation includes a limited number of free document translations per day or can be used with DeepL Pro.

Translation context and editing

The Pro edition includes Translation Context & Tone settings. Add business context, the intended tone, and information about the target audience to guide translations. After translation, refine the strings in Loco Translate’s built-in editor before applying them to the project.

The addon imposes no character limit. Yandex Translate and Chrome or Edge built-in AI support unlimited free translations; provider quotas, charges, browser support, and language availability still apply. Setup and review

Install LocoAI alongside the free Loco Translate add-on, then open the language file for the plugin or theme you want to translate. Choose Auto Translate and a supported provider. Configure any required API key or browser settings, execute the translation, and review and edit the generated strings before making them live. Check translations carefully, especially customer-facing text, technical terms, and brand-specific wording.

The paid edition includes premium support, with a stated support time of 24-48 hours.
