Configure a Custom Login with Protect WP Admin Pro
Protect WP Admin Pro lets you replace the familiar WordPress login path with a custom URL, such as /myadmin. It can also rename the wp-admin area and block access through the default wp-admin and wp-login.php URLs.
Choose how visitors reach the admin area
Protect WP Admin Pro lets you replace the familiar WordPress login path with a custom URL, such as /myadmin. It can also rename the wp-admin area and block access through the default wp-admin and wp-login.php URLs.
For sites with multiple visitors, dashboard access can be limited to administrators or specified user IDs. You can also redirect unauthorized visitors and bots, set login attempt limits, track login history, and change usernames. Blocking the default login URLs can stop many automated requests from reaching the usual login page.
Set access rules and login styling
Start by choosing a custom login URL. Then decide whether dashboard access should be available to administrators or to selected user IDs. Configure redirects for unauthorized visitors and review the available login attempt, history, and username settings.
To adapt the sign-in page to your website, add a custom logo, change its colors, and use the additional style controls. The plugin works independently of the active theme.
Check the login URL setup
After adding the Pro edition, define the new login URL and confirm that the website's rewrite setup can handle it. If the new URL displays a 404 page, check that .htaccess is writable and that permalinks are not set to Plain.
Restore access after a lockout
If you are locked out of the administrator area, rename the plugin folder through FTP, for example from /protect-wp-admin to /pwa-disabled. This disables the plugin so you can restore access and review its configuration.
