Category and tag displays
The Categories widget has settings for its title, taxonomy, order, and the number of categories and posts to show. Choose how categories are sorted, whether to show them as a list, which feed type to use, and whether they appear as text or pictures.
The Tags widget displays tags as a cloud or a list. Set their order, sorting, and item count, with additional settings for the unit, separator, search, and text type.
Menus and post lists
The Menus widget places a menu in a widget area, giving selected links and site sections another place in the layout. Available placement depends on the widget areas in your theme.
The Posts widget displays a list of posts. Configure its title, post type, number of entries, order, and sorting to arrange the content shown.
Other widgets in the collection
The broader Essential Widgets collection also includes Archives, Authors, and Pages widgets. Archives has controls for its title, post limit, archive type, post type, and order. Authors can show a list of authors, the number of posts, and a selected feed type. Pages provides configurable options for listing important pages.
These widget types suit different browsing needs. A publication can use author and post lists, a business site can surface pages and menus, and a content-heavy site can organize browsing around categories and tags.
Add widgets to a layout
Install Essential Widgets Pro in WordPress, then add a supported widget to a widget area. Select the widget, enter a title if needed, choose its content and ordering options, and save the settings. Review the display on your site and adjust the available options to fit the layout.
