Review available logs in the dashboard

Error Log Viewer Pro displays available PHP and WordPress error logs in the WordPress admin area. Search entries while investigating site issues, then view recent activity, a selected period, or the complete log file. You can also view or save part of a PHP error log as a TXT file.

Choose a logging method

The add-on supports three ways to enable error logging: .htaccess, wp-config.php with ini_set, or wp-config.php with WP_DEBUG. These methods serve the same purpose, so enable one at a time to avoid possible conflicts.

The WP_DEBUG method writes errors to wp-content/debug.log, and it does not let you change the log file's absolute path. Once its constants are declared, this method takes priority on WordPress sites and the other methods will not work.

Set the viewer and email schedule

Select which log to show and choose the amount of information: a chosen number of the latest lines, entries from a selected period, or the full file. For email notifications about log changes, set a recipient address and notification frequency. Notifications use a scheduled WordPress event; if the website is inactive during the chosen period, that event may not run and emails may arrive less often than configured.

Setup and file access

Install and activate the plugin, then open Error Log Viewer in the administration area. Choose a logging method, select the log and display range, and configure email monitoring if needed. File and folder permissions can affect viewing, downloading, or clearing logs; check access permissions if one of these actions is unavailable.
