Video sources and playback

HTML5 Video Player Pro adds playback and presentation controls to WordPress video embeds. Use externally hosted files, including videos stored on Amazon S3, and adjust player colors with the color picker. Responsive players can be added to posts, pages, and widgets.

The player works with HLS streams using .m3u8 files, while Pro adds DASH streams using .mpd files. Viewers can choose available quality levels and adjust playback speed or resolution.

Playlists and player controls

Pro adds three playlist layouts: List With Thumb, List on Right Side, and Grid. Advanced playlists can include live search, previous and next arrows, custom thumbnails, and duration badges. Use the playlist post type and [video_playlist] shortcode to organize and publish video collections.

Choose which controls appear, including restart, rewind, and fast-forward. Set the seek distance and start time, and configure the download button or a custom download URL. Options also include autoplay when the video enters the viewport, disabling pause, showing a thumbnail when paused, and keeping the player sticky while visitors scroll.

Captions, overlays, and access

Add multiple subtitle tracks so viewers can choose a language. Chapters can mark sections of a video, while overlays add supplementary content. End screens provide a closing display, and the popup player opens video in a modal. Password protection can restrict video access to viewers with a valid password. Watermarks add branding or copyright information.

For advertising, add a Google VAST tag URL. Additional IDs and CSS classes are available for advanced styling. The page load optimizer defers player assets and video loading to help manage page loading behavior.

Add a player to WordPress content

1. Install and activate HTML5 Video Player Pro.
2. Open the HTML5 Video Player menu in the WordPress dashboard.
3. Create a player and configure its video source, controls, captions, playlist, and show settings.
4. Copy the generated shortcode into a post, page, or widget, or add the HTML5 Video Player block and select your player.
5. Publish the content and review the player at the intended device sizes.
