Choose networks and button designs
Social Share Icons & Social Share Buttons Premium expands the sharing and following options for a WordPress site. Its icon pack includes services such as Snapchat, Yummly, Print, WhatsApp, Yelp, SoundCloud, Skype, Flickr, Blogger, Digg, Reddit, Vimeo, Tumblr, Xing, VK, Telegram, Amazon, and Spotify.
The standard extension includes Facebook, Twitter, email, RSS, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Houzz, OK, Telegram, VK, WeChat, Weibo, and a general share icon for more than 200 other social sites. Premium adds more default designs and themed styles, including cat-themed buttons. The broader plugin feature set also includes animated buttons, such as automatic shuffling and mouse-over effects, and share counts.
Set button actions and placement
Choose the icons to show, assign one or more actions to each button, then set where the buttons appear. For example, a Facebook icon can link to a profile and provide a separate option for sharing a page. You can reorder the icons and place them:
- Before or after posts
- As floating icons over site pages
- In a widget or through a shortcode
- At positions such as the top right or bottom left
- On specific pages, using the Premium page-specific setting
Premium adds tailored tweet text and options for users to follow an account directly from the page. Its sharing buttons are optimized for mobile display, with mobile-specific settings available.
Configure popups, email, and subscriptions
Premium includes more lightbox and popup options, including a setting to limit how often a popup appears to the same visitor. Additional email icon functions provide more ways to connect with visitors.
The subscription feature uses SpecificFeeds to let visitors subscribe and receive new posts by email. Installing the plugin sets up a feed with that service and transmits your IP address, which the feature requires.
Review setup and compatibility
After installing and activating the plugin, select the icons, define their actions, and pick their placement. Configure page-specific display and popup behavior where needed, then review email and subscription settings before offering those actions to visitors. The plugin is compatible with the Gutenberg editor and has translations in various languages. It requires cURL on the server for share counts and other features.
