Virtual folders organize content without changing URLs

Folders Pro is the paid edition of Folders, a WordPress add-on for organizing media files, pages, posts, and custom posts. Assigning an entry to a folder adds it to a virtual folder tree; it does not create a physical directory on the server or change the item’s URL. Group pictures, videos, audio files, documents, and website content by project, topic, category, or date. Folder icons can be customized, and important folders can be marked for easier navigation.

Folder choices guide uploads and content placement

Choose a folder when adding or moving content, upload files directly to a selected media library folder, or create a media folder during an upload. Set a default folder for the media library, pages, posts, and custom posts. You can also choose to display unassigned items when an area opens. The sticky media library toolbar keeps folder navigation available while you organize files.

Folders Pro works with folders for custom post types from other extensions. Dynamic Folders can filter content, and folder user restrictions can also be enabled for them.

Replacing a file updates its references

When you replace a media file, Folders Pro can update its references in the database so the new file appears across the site wherever the old one was used. Replacement workflows support PDF, SVG, DOCX, XLSX, and other file types. Compare old and new files, including their sizes and dimensions. Options include renaming a media file from its WordPress editor title, changing dates, and organizing according to a newer date. Hover over media library items to view details such as title, size, type, date, and dimensions.

Folder controls shape navigation and access

Lock folders to keep them pinned and prevent them from being dragged or deleted; you can lock or unlock all folders at once. Duplicate folders, sort them by creation date, and use keyboard shortcuts to create, rename, duplicate, or reorder folders. User restrictions can limit people to their own folders and media, while admin-type visitors can view all folders. The extension also includes an option to move files to the trash.

Imported structures keep folder setup moving

Import folder structures from FileBird, Enhanced Media Library, Wicked Folders, Real Media Library, or WP Media Folder, and export the Folders structure. Folders Pro also supports SVG uploads.
