Embed documents in WordPress

Document Viewer Pro places Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, and HTML files in WordPress content. Visitors can view supported files in their browser without Microsoft Office installed or a browser add-on. Add documents with the Gutenberg block or shortcode in posts, pages, widgets, page builders, or theme templates.

Select a file source

Use supported files from the WordPress Media Library, or select files from Google Drive with its native picker, Dropbox with the Dropbox chooser, or OneDrive. Site-wide cloud settings shop the Dropbox App Key and the Google API key, Client ID, and Project Number. Set the required Google Drive or Dropbox API details before using those sources. Grouped block settings organize the document source, viewer, dimensions, and restrictions.

Choose how the file is rendered

The Custom PDF Viewer uses PDF.js to render PDFs on your own server. Its toolbar delivers zoom, page navigation, thumbnails, and search within the document. Microsoft Office Web Viewer and Google Docs Viewer render files through external services: the selected service must be able to fetch the document from its public URL. Use the Custom PDF Viewer for PDFs that should be rendered on your server.

Set dimensions and document controls

Set the viewer width and height in pixels or percentages. The viewer responds to desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts. You can display or hide the filename above the viewer and the download button at the top.

Available restrictions can disable right-click, text selection, and the Ctrl/Cmd+C, A, S, and P shortcuts. You can also disable pop-outs, remove the full-screen expand control, and hide the download and full-screen buttons in the Microsoft viewer toolbar. These browser controls discourage common actions, but they cannot prevent someone from copying content that a browser can show.

Add a document to a page

Install and activate Document Viewer Pro. If you plan to use Google Drive or Dropbox, configure the required cloud API settings. In WordPress, open Office Viewer > Add New, choose a source, then set the viewer, dimensions, and available restrictions. Insert the document with the Gutenberg block, which works with wide and full-width alignment, or generate a shortcode such as [office_doc]. Place the shortcode in a post, page, widget, page builder, or theme template using do_shortcode().
