Backup timing, contents, and destinations
Run backups manually or schedule them every 2, 4, 8, or 12 hours, daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. Set a specific run time, such as a low-traffic period, and send backups to multiple locations.
- Create a backup automatically before WordPress or plugin updates, so a recent copy is available to restore if an update causes a problem.
- Use incremental backups to add changes to the master backup instead of repeatedly creating a full backup, which can help save server resources.
- Set how many backups to retain within a specified interval. Detailed reports include cryptographic checksums for verifying backup file integrity.
- Include non-WordPress files and databases, such as e-commerce tables or custom WordPress core modifications.
- Apply encryption to database backups.
Supported storage destinations include Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3 or compatible services, Rackspace Cloud, FTP, DreamObjects, OpenStack Swift, and email. Premium adds Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Backblaze B2, SFTP, SCP, pCloud, WebDAV, and UpdraftVault. UpdraftVault includes 1GB of integrated storage.
Restore backups and migrate websites
Choose components such as plugins, themes, or the database during restoration. UpdraftPlus Premium can also restore backups created by other backup plugins, including BackWPup, BackupWordPress, and Simple Backups.
Premium migration can transfer a site to its destination directly from the source site. A built-in search-and-replace engine changes old strings to reflect the new location when moving to another host, server, or domain.
Manage WordPress installations
Multisite and multi-network compatibility works with broader WordPress installations, and WP-CLI can manage backups and migrations. For multiple websites, UpdraftCentral provides a central dashboard for managing backups. UpdraftClone can create a temporary site clone for testing changes.
Install and get support
Install and activate the UpdraftPlus backup and migration plugin in WordPress, then configure backup settings and destinations. Choose a manual or scheduled plan, choose the content and storage locations, and review the available restoration and migration options.
UpdraftPlus Premium clients can submit a ticket to the support and development teams through the UpdraftPlus support hub. Review the FAQs and update the plugin before requesting help.
