PrintFriendly Pro Subscription is the paid, ad-free edition of the Print, PDF & Email WordPress add-on. The add-on detects page content automatically, so publishers do not need a separate print.css file. In the free edition, ads appear in the print, PDF and email confirmation window. Pro removes those ads for the subscribed domain. PrintFriendly states that Pro is GDPR compliant.

Prepare a print or PDF preview

Visitors can edit the preview before printing or creating a PDF. They can resize text and pictures or delete content they do not need. This can make the finished document more focused and reduce paper and ink use.

Visitors can print, create a PDF or share page content by email. PDFs can include clickable links and use A4 or Letter paper sizes. Email sharing is sent by the service's server.

Publisher controls

• Enable or disable print, PDF and email options.
• Add custom headers and footers to print and PDF outputs.
• Choose a button style or use custom text with an picture or button.
• Add a copyright notice to printed pages and PDFs.
• Apply custom CSS to control the print or PDF page.
• Choose the JavaScript or non-JavaScript option.

The plugin works on HTTP, HTTPS and password-protected sites. It is compatible with social sharing add-ons including Social Snap, Social Pug, NovaShare and Shareaholic.

Language and data handling

The interface detects the visitor's browser language and can show in 30 languages. Supported examples include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

For PDF generation, page content is sent to the service's server. The generated PDF is stored temporarily so the visitor can download it, then permanently deleted after that period. With the non-JavaScript option, the preview is generated on the server, cached for a few minutes and then deleted.

To send an email, the service stores the email address and message on its server. PrintFriendly says both are permanently deleted; it specifies that the email address is deleted after the message is sent and checked for spam.
