What can BasePress Premium add to a WordPress knowledge base?
BasePress Premium and BasePress Pro are paid WordPress editions for knowledge bases, documentation portals, and wikis. A single knowledge base provides a standard documentation area. Multiple independent bases let you group material by product, service, department, or another subject; visitors can choose a base from an entry page and browse its sections and articles.
Choose a knowledge base structure
BasePress Premium and BasePress Pro are paid WordPress editions for knowledge bases, documentation portals, and wikis. A single knowledge base provides a standard documentation area. Multiple independent bases let you group material by product, service, department, or another subject; visitors can choose a base from an entry page and browse its sections and articles.
Documentation can cover customer support, product manuals, troubleshooting guides, service information, frequently asked questions, or internal team resources. The same format can hold e-commerce help, school and college material, eLearning content, government standards and policies, or wiki-style collections.
Use article activity for search and discovery
Advanced search results can be based on article votes and visits. A popular articles widget can also surface content using either measure. Readers can vote on articles or send feedback through a form, giving you a way to see which material receives positive responses and where it may need attention. Google reCAPTCHA can be used to control spam from the feedback form.
For longer articles, automatic tables of contents can appear in articles or widgets. Next and previous article links help readers move through related documentation in sequence.
- Search results based on votes and visits.
- Article voting, feedback forms, and popular articles based on votes or visits.
- Automatic tables of contents and next or previous article navigation.
Arrange content and manage access
Drag and drop article reordering lets you set the sequence of documentation. Tags provide another way to group related material. Advanced content restrictions by WordPress user role let you limit selected knowledge base content to the intended users.
A statistics dashboard widget provides documentation activity information. Multisite support is included. The shortcode editor can place dynamic lists of articles outside the knowledge base, so selected documentation can appear elsewhere on the site.
Use multilingual and builder integrations
Integration with WPML is included for multilingual knowledge bases. SearchWP integration for advanced searches and Oxygen Visual Site Builder integration are available through add-ons. These settings support different needs: WPML for translated knowledge bases, SearchWP for search, and Oxygen for presenting documentation.
Set up a documentation process
For customer support, create separate knowledge bases for products or services, arrange articles into sections, then use search, related navigation, feedback, and popular-article utilities to help visitors find answers. For internal use, organize runbooks, company procedures, standards, or team documentation in an intranet knowledge base.
BasePress can also organize material for e-commerce sites, schools and colleges, eLearning projects, government standards and policies, product documentation, and wiki-style collections. The same structure can serve customers or employees.
Install and configure
Install BasePress Premium or BasePress Pro on the WordPress site where you plan to publish documentation. In the administration area, create a knowledge base, add sections and articles, then configure the paid search, feedback, access, navigation, statistics, and integration capabilities your workflow needs.
