Create backups manually or schedule them for a chosen date and time. Include the full WordPress installation and database, or select particular documents, folders, and database tables.
Choose backup contents and destinations
Before creating an archive, Total Upkeep checks whether the web server has the functions needed to create it properly. This check is intended to help protect backup integrity. Total Upkeep works with remote backups through FTP and SFTP. Premium adds automatic archive uploads to Amazon S3 and Google Drive, with storage outside the site installation.
Restore an archive or an individual file
From the Total Upkeep Dashboard, download, restore, or delete backups. Use the Backup Browser to inspect the files and database tables in an archive. Premium lets you restore a single file from the browser. Its Historical Versions feature lists backups containing a selected file so you can find and restore an earlier copy. Premium also includes recently modified file search, an option to save a copy of a file before updating, and comprehensive update history.
Recover after a website or update failure
If the WordPress installation is corrupted and the dashboard is unavailable, use the restoration script to restore a backup from outside WordPress. Auto rollback creates a backup before an update and restores the website to its last backup if the update fails.
Monitor website errors
Site Check monitors for errors at specified intervals. When it detects an error that could lead to a crash, it can send an email alert and restore the website using the latest backup. A historical error log and diagnostic tools help investigate issues.
Clone, migrate, or stage a site
To migrate a website, install Total Upkeep on both WordPress sites, create an archive on the source site, copy its protected link, then restore the archive on the destination site. Total Upkeep can also be used with Cloud WordPress to create staging sites for testing plugins or themes.
Set up backups and migration
Install Total Upkeep on the WordPress site you want to protect. Configure manual or scheduled backups, select what to include, and set up FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3, or Google Drive storage as needed. Set Site Check intervals if you want monitoring. Setup guidance and questions are available through the Getting Started guide, support forum, Team Orange User Group, support library, and questions portal.
