From video source to WordPress page
Super Video Player Pro lets you add self-hosted MP4, HLS (.m3u8), and MPEG-DASH (.mpd) video to a WordPress site without coding. Add a player with a Gutenberg block or shortcode, then place it in posts, pages, widgets, or theme templates. The player is designed for desktop, tablet, and mobile playback.
It can be used on course and membership sites, portfolios, product demonstrations, tutorial and education websites, business and documentation sites, media libraries, and blogs. The extension supports unlimited players.
How playlists organize videos
Add multiple videos to a playlist and choose a Default, Horizontal, Vertical, or Grid layout. Continuous playback can move automatically through the playlist, which suits lessons, tutorials, demonstrations, and other sequential videos. Multiple player layouts provide further presentation choices.
When a video has multiple quality options, viewers can choose a resolution that suits their connection. Video titles and descriptions can appear above or below the player to give each item context.
Controls and viewing options
Choose which controls to display, including Play/Pause, Volume, Progress Bar, Captions, Settings, Fullscreen, Download, and Picture-in-Picture. Viewers can change playback speed and quality in the Settings menu. Sharing is also included.
- Initial Volume Control sets the default volume for each video.
- Custom Seek Time sets how many seconds a keyboard shortcut or player control skips.
- Click to Play lets visitors play or pause by clicking anywhere on the player.
- Picture-in-Picture lets visitors keep watching while browsing other pages or tabs.
- Custom Caption Styling adjusts captions to the website design and can improve readability.
The player supports multiple subtitle files, including VTT files in multiple languages. It also includes screen reader support, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility for modern browsers.
Setup and page loading
Create a player with a Gutenberg block or shortcode, then select a self-hosted MP4, HLS, or MPEG-DASH source. Configure the layout, controls, subtitles, quality options, title, and description as needed. For a collection, add the videos to a playlist and choose its layout before placing the player on the target page.
A page with a player loads roughly 170 KB of player assets. A page without one loads none of those assets. The plugin does not require jQuery.
