Say What Pro changes marked translatable strings from WordPress core, themes, and add-ons. Enter the existing string and its replacement to adjust site wording without editing source documents. Text that is not marked for translation cannot be changed this way.

Find strings from the text you see

String Discovery mode suggests strings through autocomplete, helping you locate wording without searching through source code. It works with strings delivered by the server and text rendered by JavaScript.

Choose where replacements apply

• Replace a full string, or use wildcards to change individual words and fragments across the site.
• Apply text-domain-specific filters to improve performance.
• Set different replacement text for each language on a multilingual site.

These choices depend on the original text being translatable. A language-specific replacement also needs to be configured for the relevant language.

Manage replacement data

Say What Pro includes import and export through its user interface. The wider Say What? add-on also has preliminary WP-CLI support for export, import, list, and update commands. CSV files are used for import and update operations.

Get started

1. Install and activate Say What Pro in WordPress.
2. Find the marked string you want to change, using String Discovery and autocomplete if helpful.
3. Enter the existing string and its replacement.
4. On a multilingual site, configure the replacement for the appropriate language.
5. Use the import and export tools in the interface to manage replacement data.

Once configured, replacements apply to supported translatable strings from WordPress core, themes, and plugins. Common uses include adjusting labels, notices, buttons, and other interface text to fit your site or audience.
