How browser notifications reach subscribers
After visitors opt in through their browser, PushEngage can send notifications to desktop and mobile browsers even when they have left the website. Subscribers do not need an app or email address. Supported browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera, Brave, Samsung Internet, and UC Browser.
On iPhone and iPad, web push requires Safari 16.4 or later and the visitor must add the site to their Home Screen. Mobile visitors who have not completed that step will not receive the iOS opt-in prompt.
What the paid plans add
The free starting features include push broadcasts, subscription popups, basic segmentation, the multichannel chat widget, and access to the WooCommerce integration. Growth and Premium add advanced segmentation, A/B testing, drip campaigns, product alerts, and WooCommerce automation.
- Cart abandonment: Send push notifications and WhatsApp messages to encourage shoppers to return to an abandoned WooCommerce cart.
- Browse abandonment: Re-engage visitors who viewed products without adding them to their cart.
- Price and stock alerts: Notify subscribers when selected products drop in price or come back in stock.
- Order updates: Send WooCommerce notifications for order confirmations, shipping updates, payment retries, and cash-on-delivery confirmation.
WooCommerce campaigns can use product details from the store catalog, including product name, price, picture, and URL. The WhatsApp automation can run alongside push notifications as part of a cart recovery sequence.
How targeting and campaign reporting work
Audience segments can use page visits, product categories, location, device, engagement, and custom attributes. Attribute filters retain their configured value type, such as number, date, boolean, or text, so rules match the values they were set to use.
Campaign templates and visual processes help organize broadcasts and automated messages. Workflow reporting shows Entered, Active, Completed, and Failed counts, with date-range analytics, conversion goals, and revenue tracking. A/B tests can compare notification titles, messages, images, and calls to action; intelligent testing can send the winning variation to the remaining audience. Smart delivery optimization can time browser notifications for each subscriber's engagement patterns, and RSS Auto-Push can turn new WordPress posts into notifications.
Where the chat widget fits
The multichannel click-to-chat widget is included with the free starting capabilities. It connects visitors to 20 or more messaging channels, including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, SMS, email, and Slack. You can configure channel availability by device and set working hours and routing through the WordPress dashboard.
