Map Joomla content to WordPress
FG Joomla to WordPress Premium reads a Joomla database and imports selected content into WordPress. Joomla sections become WordPress categories, and Joomla categories become subcategories. Import articles as posts or pages. Published articles are supported; unpublished and archived articles are imported as drafts. Articles in the trash are not migrated.
The import can also include web links, tags, page breaks and internal links. Joomla web links become WordPress links managed by the Link Manager add-on, and meta keywords can become WordPress tags. The add-on works with multisite installations and has been tested with Joomla versions 1.5 to 6.0 and the latest WordPress version, including on large databases.
Premium data and URL options
Premium migrates authors and other visitors with their passwords, along with navigation menus. It can transfer Joomla meta descriptions and meta keywords. For article URLs, choose to preserve Joomla article IDs or redirect Joomla URLs to the new WordPress URLs.
Choose how media moves
Uploading post media and external media to WordPress uploads directories is optional. The plugin can update post content to retain media links, resize images to WordPress picture sizes and use the first post image as the featured image. Image alt attributes and captions are preserved, and internal links are updated during migration.
Legacy platforms and extension add-ons
Premium supports Joomla 1.0 and Mambo 4.5 and 4.6, including processing for {mosimages} and {mospagebreak}. It can import Joomla 1.0 static articles as pages, Joomla 2.5 and later featured images and post links, Joomla 3.1 and later tags, and Joomla 3.7 and later custom fields. Mambo data and Elxis data, an early Joomla fork, are also supported.
Premium supports add-ons that extend migration coverage for components such as K2, EasyBlog, Flexicontent, Zoo, Kunena, sh404sef, JoomSEF, OpenSEF, JComments, JomComment, Komento, JDownloads, Joomlatags, JEvents, Docman, Virtuemart, JReviews, Mosets Tree, Community Builder, User Groups, RSBlog, AllVideos, HikaShop and Acymailing. Other add-ons cover WP-PostViews, translation transfer from Joom!Fish to WPML, and extensions including Rokbox, RokGallery, JoomGallery, PhocaGallery, PhocaDownload, Attachments, Simple Image Gallery, Simple Image Gallery Pro, RSGallery and Contact Manager.
Connect the source database and run the import
Install the plugin in WordPress, then enter the Joomla database host, port, database name, username, password and table prefix. The WordPress server must be able to access the Joomla database. When the websites are on different hosts, you can allow a remote MySQL connection from the WordPress host or copy the Joomla database into the WordPress database environment. After connecting, choose the content types, URL handling and media options you need, then run the import manually or through cron. The importer reads the Joomla database without modifying the Joomla site.
