Download ZIP files from WordPress administration

Download Plugins and Themes in ZIP from Dashboard PRO adds download controls to the WordPress administration area. From the Plugins page, you can download an individual add-on. From Appearance > Themes, you can download a theme or child theme. You can also download all installed extensions and themes in one combined file. These controls let you prepare files for review, local development, or archiving without relying on FTP or cPanel access.

What changes when downloads are scheduled?

With PRO, you can set periodical downloads for add-ons and themes. Choose an interval from once a minute to every four weeks. For scheduled ZIP files, you can append the date and time to filenames, set a naming convention, and choose the storage path. The timestamp helps distinguish files created at different points in a process.

Choose the archive layout

For a plugin or theme ZIP, choose whether the archive includes the main plugin or theme directory or starts at the inner folders level. ZIP handling can use either the ZipArchive or PclZip library. Select the library that fits your server and tools requirements.

Set up the dashboard download link

On the Plugins page, PRO lets you change the download link's color, font weight, and displayed text. The control remains available next to the relevant plugin, with its appearance set to fit your administration workflow.

From individual files to recurring copies

A developer can download a customized plugin or theme for local review, or use the combined download to package installed plugins and themes. When files need regular review, scheduled downloads can create recurring copies. Naming, storage path, version, and timestamp options help keep those files identifiable.

Installation

Install the PRO plugin on the WordPress site where you want to download plugins and themes. Then use its settings and dashboard controls to configure ZIP behavior, scheduled downloads, filenames, storage paths, and the download link's appearance.
