Child Theme Configurator PRO: Find and Preview CSS
Child Theme Configurator PRO extends the WordPress child-theme workflow to CSS from installed add-ons. Find the selectors, properties, and values behind theme and add-on styles, preview overrides, and save custom CSS in a child theme. Your changes stay separate from the original theme and extension files; review them if an update changes the source styles.

Set up the child theme
Create a child theme from an installed parent theme, or configure or duplicate an existing child theme. The analyzer checks stylesheet dependencies and helps determine options for the selected theme. Choose whether custom styles go in the primary stylesheet or a separate stylesheet, then set how the parent stylesheet is handled. Copying the parent theme’s menus, widgets, and Customizer settings is optional and overwrites options already set in the child theme.
Find and preview CSS rules
The analyzer indexes stylesheet media queries, selectors, properties, and values. Search by selector to adjust a particular element, or by property and value to find matching rules across selectors. Edit existing properties, add new ones, or enter raw CSS for new selectors and responsive @media queries. Raw CSS must use valid syntax for the parser to load it.
Preview how existing styles combine with your changes before saving. Choose hex, RGBA, or named colors with the Spectrum color picker, add fallback values for properties, and adjust responsive queries. The tool can generate vendor-prefixed properties and CSS gradients. Its gradient controls support two colors without intermediate stops.
Customize installed plugin styles
The PRO edition scans stylesheets from installed WordPress add-ons and lets you create custom CSS for them in a child theme. This helps when a plugin’s default presentation needs adjustment. Find the relevant rules, preview an override, then save it separately from the plugin’s original files.
Manage child-theme files
You can copy parent theme templates to the child theme, manage child-theme files and pictures, and export a child theme as a ZIP archive. The configurator can also copy menus, widgets, and Customizer options, and supports Multisite. It uses the WordPress Filesystem API and is designed not to create files that cannot be removed.
Test before activation
Use Live Preview to check the child theme before activating it. Some themes do not load parent templates or child stylesheets correctly, and an active child theme uses its copied template files in place of the parent’s. In Multisite, network-enable the child theme before using Live Preview.
The CSS parser supports @media and @import rules. Comments are stripped from generated child-theme stylesheets, and @keyframes and @font-face rules need to be placed in a separate stylesheet.
