WordPress import and export workflows

WP Import Export Professional Edition, also called WP Import Export Pro, is the paid edition for moving and managing data across WordPress installations. Its guided workflows support posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomies, comments, and visitors.

Control tasks and choose data

Active import and export tasks can be paused, resumed, or stopped at any stage. Asynchronous background processing lets jobs continue without keeping the browser task active. You can monitor and manage background jobs, and process multiple imports and exports concurrently.

Filters let you narrow exported data with rules such as selecting posts whose Post ID is greater than a specified value. Uploaded source data can also be filtered during import. For exports, fields can be rearranged and edited before processing. For imports, drag and drop field mapping connects source fields to the appropriate WordPress fields.

Formats, schedules, and logs

Supported import and export formats are CSV, XLS, XLSX, JSON, TXT, ODS, XML, and ZIP archives. The Professional or Pro edition supports scheduled imports and exports through automatic cron-scheduled tasks. A centralized interface organizes recurring jobs, with scheduling designed to work alongside background processing.

Process and execution logs record import activity. Step-by-step logs for individual records help you review how a task progressed and inspect its processing history.

Available Pro add-ons

Add-on settings include integrations for ACF and ACF Pro, WPML, Polylang, WooCommerce, Yoast SEO, and Attributes. Pro import options also include Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and FTP/SFTP. Premium export options include ACF and ACF Pro, scheduled export, WooCommerce, WPML, Attributes, and Polylang.

These options support workflows for custom fields, multilingual content, product data, taxonomy attributes, and files stored with supported external services.

Set up a task

Install WP Import Export Lite in WordPress, then use the available upgrade path to the Professional or Pro edition. Create an import or export task, select the data type and file format, apply any needed filters, and map fields before processing. For recurring work, configure a schedule and review the process log after the task runs.
