From Vimeo videos to WordPress posts

Vimeotheque connects Vimeo videos and collections with WordPress. Import one video or select videos from channels, showcases, portfolios, folders, user uploads, groups, or Vimeo search. Each imported video can become a WordPress post with its title, description, thumbnail, and embedded player. The Vimeo thumbnail can also be set as the post’s featured picture.

Videos can use the dedicated vimeo-video post type. Vimeotheque PRO also lets you import them as regular WordPress posts, so they can fit existing themes, archives, and editorial workflows.

Manual imports and scheduled syncing

The add-on works with manual single-video and bulk imports. PRO adds automatic bulk imports on a schedule, so new selections from supported Vimeo sources can be synchronized without repeating each import by hand.

PRO can import private or hidden videos when Vimeo’s privacy options and API permissions allow access. This can suit course materials or membership libraries. A separate membership or LMS plugin is needed to restrict access to lessons on the WordPress site.

Display videos with blocks, playlists, and shortcodes

Gutenberg blocks cover three common layouts: place a player inside a single video post with the Video Position block, embed a specific Vimeo video with the Single Video block, or assemble imported videos into a playlist with the Playlist block. A Classic Editor shortcode is also available. Its output works in Elementor sections, columns, and templates.

The plugin uses the Vimeo HTML5 player and includes lazy-load options. When a page contains several videos, one-video-at-a-time playback helps prevent player conflicts. An embed option can avoid tracking, including cookies and statistics.

Connect Vimeo and start importing

Install Vimeotheque PRO in WordPress. Create a free Vimeo account and a Vimeo App, then enter the required credentials under Settings → Vimeo authentication. After authentication, choose a Vimeo source and configure a manual import or scheduled synchronization. Add videos to your site with blocks, shortcodes, Elementor layouts, or WordPress posts.
