Flexible WordPress content protection

Password Protected Pro is designed for site owners who need to control access to WordPress content without applying the same rule everywhere. Use it to protect an entire website, individual pages and posts, categories, WooCommerce products and categories, custom post types, taxonomies, the WordPress login area, or selected sections inside your content.

This flexible approach suits private sites, restricted resources, client previews, members-only material, product information, and premium content. You can show public teasers while keeping selected sections, high-resolution images, or download links behind a password screen.

Access rules for various audiences

Password Protected Pro supports multiple passwords, allowing you to manage access for different visitors or groups. Trusted WordPress user roles can bypass password screens, and access can also be granted according to IP addresses. Bypass links provide another way to give approved users password-free access to protected content.

Protection can be applied selectively, with exclusions for certain pages or posts when some parts of the site should remain public. You can also set password expiration dates and usage limits, helping you define how long or how often an access method can be used.

Forms, payments, and automatic access

For websites that need information before granting access, Password Protected Pro works with Gravity Forms. Use a form to collect payments, registrations, lead information, contact details, or other data before allowing visitors to view protected pages, posts, categories, or the entire site.

After a successful submission, the add-on can email an access link automatically. Visitors can use the link to reach the protected content without manually receiving or entering a password. You can also redirect users to a custom page after successful access.

Protection screens and activity oversight

Customize the password-protected screen to match your brand and maintain a consistent visitor experience. The extension also supports Google reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, and Cloudflare Turnstile to help block bots at the protection screen.

For oversight, you can monitor login attempts and access activity through detailed activity logs. The limit login feature helps protect the password screen from WordPress brute force attacks. Together, these controls give administrators tools for managing both visitor access and access-related activity.

Practical processes

• Protect a complete portfolio while leaving selected previews publicly visible.
• Restrict WooCommerce products or categories for a controlled audience.
• Share private posts, pages, or client materials through passwords or bypass links.
• Collect form submissions before sending visitors an access link.
• Allow selected user roles to skip protection while other visitors see the password screen.

Installation and setup

Install Password Protected Pro in WordPress, then configure the content areas and access rules you need. Add passwords, exclusions, user-role or IP-based access, and any expiration or usage limits. Customize the protection screen, connect Gravity Forms if required, and publish your protected content. Review login attempts and access activity as your process develops.
