Bring Markdown into WordPress posts

Ultimate Markdown Pro lets you create post content from Markdown files, files in its internal library, or text you paste or type in the editor. Import Markdown uploads a file, Load Markdown uses a saved library document, and Insert Markdown converts editor text. These tools appear in the Block Editor sidebar and as meta boxes in the Classic Editor.

Manage Markdown documents

Use the dedicated add-on menu to create, edit, and organize documents in the internal library. Bulk import one or more Markdown files into the library, export documents as downloadable files, or export the library as a ZIP archive. The Pro edition includes document categories and further import and export options.

Set conversion and post options

Choose from seven Markdown parser options. Plugin options let you select the parser used in the editor panels and document preview. REST API support includes options for automation.

Front Matter uses YAML key-value pairs at the beginning of a Markdown document to configure post settings through available keys. Pro adds extended Front Matter support.

Upload images during import

Pro can upload images automatically during Markdown import, keeping that step within the file import process.

Get started

Install and activate the extension, then open the post editor or the dedicated document menu. In the editor, pick Import Markdown, Load Markdown, or Insert Markdown for your source. Use the document menu to create, edit, categorize, bulk import, and export documents. For a structured workflow, review the available Front Matter keys and choose the parser for your editor panels and document preview.
