Set Pre-Publish Rules with PublishPress Checklists Pro
PublishPress Checklists Pro places a checklist beside WordPress posts and pages so authors can track requirements while editing. Set each task to disabled, recommended or required. Recommended tasks guide writers; an incomplete required task prevents publication. Completed items change from a red X to a green checkmark, and you can select who may ignore a task.
Apply publishing requirements beside content

Set content and structure checks
Configure minimum or maximum character counts for titles and excerpts, and word counts for post content. You can prohibit selected heading tags from H1 through H6 or specify words that must not appear. Set limits for taxonomy terms, require or prohibit specific terms, and check permalink characters, internal and external link counts, and link format. The link check validates format; it does not check whether a destination works.
Manage timing and approvals
Require posts to use a specific publishing time or a date in the future. Approval tasks can require sign-off from a particular visitor or from a user in a selected role.
Check images, audio, video and accessibility
Require ALT text for images and set minimum or maximum character counts for it. Other checks can set image counts and caption lengths, count audio and video items, require a featured image, and set featured-image dimensions. Pro can also check that content has a single H1, uses heading tags in logical order and includes a header row in tables.
Use connected plugins and custom requirements
For WooCommerce products, checklist rules can cover product details such as price, sale settings, SKU, stock, backorders, upsells, cross-sells, product images, and virtual or downloadable status. Integrations with Yoast SEO, All in One SEO and Rank Math SEO let you set requirements based on their SEO or readability checks. Advanced Custom Fields requirements can check fields such as text and images.
OpenAI requirements use prompts to assess content for criteria such as clarity, grammar, spelling or tone. When OpenAI judges that content does not meet a requirement, the checklist marks it incomplete. You can also add custom checklist tasks, with more advanced requirements possible through a custom add-on.
Configure and maintain your checklist
Set up tasks and their limits to match your editorial process, then choose which are recommendations and which are required. Authors see their status beside the content as they work. Review the rules when your publishing standards change so the checklist continues to reflect your team's requirements.
