Format attachment metadata on upload
SEO Media Manager Pro applies formatting rules to WordPress attachment titles as media is uploaded. It updates attachment metadata only; the stored media files are not renamed or modified. Free uses the attachment title assigned by WordPress. Pro can also use the original filename or a fixed title as the source for new uploads.
Replace hyphens, underscores, periods, tildes, and plus signs with spaces; select letter case and capitalization; and keep selected whole words such as SEO, PDF, or UK uppercase. A live preview shows the result before you save. Pro includes replacement rules for more punctuation, numbers, and custom phrases, plus title splitting at capital letters or number groups. You can copy the formatted title to alternative text, captions, and descriptions. A formatted title may not make useful alternative text or a caption, so review it before copying; decorative images may need empty alternative text. existing image attributes saved in post content are not automatically updated.
Process existing library entries
Pro can process the complete Media Library or a custom selection, with filters for images, SVG, PDF, documents, audio, or video. Action Scheduler runs background jobs in groups of up to 20 attachments and saves progress between requests, so you can leave the options screen and return later. Each job uses the settings and library boundary selected when it starts. Cancellation stops further processing after the current group; it does not undo changes already made.
Batch processing replaces the output fields you select. There is no fill-missing-only option, so turn off copying to any fields you want to keep or exclude those attachments. Back up the database and test a small selection before processing existing metadata.
Set up uploads and batch jobs
For uploads, configure the rules, review the preview, choose which metadata fields receive the formatted title, and save. For an existing library, open the Batch processing tab, choose the complete library or Custom selection, set a media type if needed, choose the title source, and start the job. WordPress scheduled work must execute for background processing. If WP-Cron is disabled, a working server-side cron runner is required.
Pro includes paid updates and priority email support through Freemius. If its licence is deactivated, the plugin remains active with the Free interface. Paid settings remain stored, while paid rules and batch processing are unavailable until a valid licence is activated again.
Existing Format Media Titles settings are imported, with a compatibility copy retained for rollback. The developer filters seo_media_manager_defaults, seo_media_manager_title, and seo_media_manager_alt remain available.
