Manage events within WordPress
Event Organiser Pro is a paid edition associated with Event Organiser, a WordPress event-management add-on. It uses WordPress custom post type functionality so events can work naturally alongside posts while adding scheduling, venue, calendar, and event-specific management tools. Events can be created and maintained through an administrative interface that works with both the familiar WordPress list view and a calendar view.
The event workflow is suitable for websites that publish individual activities, ongoing programmes, classes, meetings, performances, or other scheduled occasions. Each event can contain its own timing and venue information, while categories and tags help organize larger event libraries.
Flexible scheduling
Create one-time events or create recurring events with complex schedules. Event Organiser supports events lasting for an arbitrary period and repetitions over a specified time range. Scheduling patterns can include rules such as the third Tuesday of every fourth month or the sixteenth day of every month. Specific dates can also be added to or removed from an event, helping accommodate exceptions and changes to a recurring programme.
- Create individual and recurring events.
- Use complex repetition patterns and defined date ranges.
- Add or remove specific occurrences.
- Delete individual occurrences when a single date is cancelled.
- Optionally remove expired events automatically.
Venues, calendars, and public displays
Maintain venues with a full content editor and Google Maps support. Venue pages can display events assigned to a particular location, while colour-coded categories help visitors distinguish various types of activities. Public event pages can use pretty permalinks, and archive pages are available for years, months, and days.
Widgets include a calendar, event list, and event agenda. The event list can be limited by quantity, category, or venue. Shortcodes provide similar display settings, including a full calendar with category and venue filters, an event list, an event agenda, and a venue map. Calendar views can include month, week, and day formats where supported by the relevant shortcode.
Feeds, permissions, and developer tools
Visitors can subscribe to public event feeds or to events associated with a specific venue or category. The subscription functionality supports Google and Webcal links. Events can also be imported from and exported to ICAL files. Relative date queries make it possible to request events that finished recently or events beginning within a future period.
Custom permissions can specify which WordPress roles may create, edit, or delete events and manage venues. For developers, event functions extend familiar post functions so templates can output event details such as start date-time and venue. The custom post type respects the WordPress template hierarchy, and default templates can be overridden for theme-specific presentation.
Installation
Install Event Organiser Pro on the WordPress website used to manage the event catalogue. After installation, create venues, add event details, define schedules, and assign categories or tags. Add calendars, lists, agendas, maps, or subscription links to site pages using the available widgets and shortcodes, then review permissions and public archive pages before publishing the event schedule.
