PublishPress Capabilities Pro

PublishPress Capabilities Pro helps WordPress administrators define what each role can do and which parts of the admin area it can access. Edit, create, or duplicate roles without writing code, then assign capabilities to built-in or custom roles.

Set permissions for content and stores

Choose who can publish, read, edit, or delete posts, pages, and custom post types. Assign separate Manage, Edit, and Assign capabilities to categories, tags, and other taxonomies, including those added by code, a theme, or a add-on. Media Library permissions cover uploading, editing, and deleting documents. You can also decide which roles may send posts to each custom status.

For WooCommerce, manage permissions for products, orders, coupons, and product taxonomies such as categories, tags, and shipping classes.

Control admin menus and editing screens

Use Admin Menus to edit links, add menu or submenu links and separators, and block top-level or submenu access for selected roles. You can also block admin pages by URL and hide metaboxes for specific roles.

Editor Features can hide parts of the block editor or Classic Editor, including sidebar panels, the Publish button, the title, body, or permalink. Other controls let you remove toolbar items and dashboard widgets, hide Profile screen features, and customize admin styling by role.

Fit permissions to team processes

Set login, logout, registration, and first-login redirects. Frontend controls can hide elements, add CSS, or add body classes for selected roles. Navigation menu restrictions can depend on role or whether a user is logged in. Admin Notices organizes messages in the WordPress admin area.

For a multisite network, manage permissions on one site or select to synchronize changes across the network. User testing lets you check an account without resetting its password.

Review and restore changes

Permission changes are backed up automatically, so you can restore earlier settings if an adjustment has an unwanted result. This can help while testing a new role or reviewing access after adding site functionality.

Start with a role

Install and activate PublishPress Capabilities Pro, open the Capabilities area, and select a role. Create, copy, or edit that role, then assign the capabilities and admin controls it needs. On the Admin Menus screen, mark links the selected role should not access. Review the result with the backup and user-testing utilities, then choose whether to synchronize permission changes across a multisite network.
