Post Type Transfer Pro for WordPress Content Workflows
A post type is WordPress's classification for content, such as Posts, Pages, or a registered custom type. Post Type Transfer Pro changes that classification while retaining the post's content, metadata, and settings. For example, you can move a case study out of blog posts, put a landing page in a custom type, or reorganize older content after a redesign.
Change a post's type and keep its content
A post type is WordPress's classification for content, such as Posts, Pages, or a registered custom type. Post Type Transfer Pro changes that classification while retaining the post's content, metadata, and settings. For example, you can move a case study out of blog posts, put a landing page in a custom type, or reorganize older content after a redesign.
Registered types created by add-ons or themes are available, including WooCommerce products and types made with ACF or CPT UI. The included transfer utilities also work with the editor and Quick Edit. The Pro edition includes the base extension's capabilities, such as CSV import and export, post visibility controls, and translation support.
Transfer one post or a group
To move one post from the editor, open it, find the Post Type section in the sidebar, choose the target type, and click Update. From a listing screen, Quick Edit lets you choose the target type and update without opening the full editor. For a group, select the posts in the listing, open Bulk Edit, choose the new type, and click Update.
Choose taxonomy handling and post order
During a transfer, Pro lets you choose whether categories, tags, and custom taxonomies stay as they are, map to other taxonomies, or use a newly registered taxonomy. Selective enablement lets you choose which post types display the transfer option.
Drag-and-drop controls set the order of posts in the administration listing. AutoSort carries that custom order to the front end. The advanced reorder interface lets you pin posts, move items to the top or bottom, undo changes, and save or reset the order.
Duplicate posts and manage larger processes
Create a draft copy of a post and choose whether to copy its title, content, excerpt, custom fields, taxonomies, and featured image. WP-CLI support lets you manage supported transfer workflows from the WordPress command line. These tools can help when preparing a client website for launch or sorting content after a redesign. Pro customers also receive priority support.
Use page builders and multisite
For content reordering, the Pro edition supports Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, and other major page builders. Transfers, reordering, and duplication also work across sites in a WordPress multisite network.
Check URLs after a transfer
A post type change may affect a post's permalink, depending on how the type is configured. If the URL changes, create a 301 redirect to preserve inbound links. Install and activate the add-on, then use the editor or listing screen for transfers, the reorder interface for arranging entries, or duplication to create a draft with the fields you select.
