Choose coverage for the map
The library includes more than 250 vector maps of the world, continents, regions, and countries. It also includes US states divided into counties, county maps for Mexico and Canada, and alternate versions of some locations divided into regions, departments, districts, or municipalities.
Connect map controls to your data
Select which areas to display, exclude specific regions, and select a projection such as Mercator, Miller, or NaturalEarth1. Hover effects can change colors and show HTML tooltips. Click actions can open a new window or display additional content.
- Set colors for individual regions and markers, then group regions into visual units.
- Set the initial zoom and map center, use advanced zoom settings, and cluster nearby markers.
- Add legends, custom image markers, vector icons, and text labels.
- Show clicked content outside the map or in a lightbox.
- Create heatmaps, also called choropleth maps, to color regions by data, and connect markers with lines to show routes or relationships.
- Overlay maps, such as a US states map on a world map, or populate maps automatically from existing categories or tags.
Build and display a map
Start by choosing a vector map and selecting the areas to include. Add colors, markers, labels, and interactions, then refine the view with zoom, center, projections, legends, or grouped regions. For data-focused maps, use heatmaps, connected markers, and overlays to show geographic patterns and relationships. Add the finished map to a WordPress page through your content process.
Maps are embedded in HTML5 pages as SVG content and are designed to work across devices and modern browsers. The plugin uses the amCharts visualization library and loads some documents from its CDN. An amCharts account and a Google Maps API key are not required for maps to work.
When installing, you can optionally share non-sensitive WordPress installation data with Freemius. Opting in is optional; the plugin works without it and does not collect data from your users.
