Inactive Logout Pro lets WordPress site administrators set what happens when visitors leave sessions idle. Choose a timeout, configure the warning or other response, and apply various rules by user role. The add-on works with WooCommerce and multisite installations.
Choose the timeout response
A popup can show a custom message and an optional 10-second countdown before logout. Remove the countdown if it does not fit your workflow, or use a wake-up message that prompts an inactive user without ending the session. For non-authenticated users, show an idle message or redirect them.
- Redirect users to a custom or existing page, including a timeout page with content and styling suited to your theme.
- Show a toast notification when logout occurs.
- Set separate timeout periods and logout redirects for user roles.
- Configure login redirects as well as logout redirects.
Review sessions and manage logins
Track user sessions and review login time, logout time, browser, online status, session duration, role, operating system, and IP address. Administrators can force logout for all users, log out selected users, or bulk log out multiple users.
- Set concurrent login limits, login priority rules, and last-login activity overrides.
- Lock a user when a configured login limit is reached, with email notifications and customizable templates for locked concurrent sessions.
- Enable browser-close logout after a defined duration and use multi-tab support.
- Disable inactive logout on specified pages; additional post type support is available through the documented configuration.
Configure the site experience
On multisite installations, one setting can override options across all sites. You can disable the native WordPress login popup after logout and tailor the default and wake-up modals with HTML render elements.
Install and configure
- Install and activate Inactive Logout Pro in WordPress.
- Open the add-on settings and set the idle timeout.
- Choose the countdown, wake-up message, popup, toast notification, or redirect behavior.
- Configure role-specific rules, session controls, and any required page exclusions.
- Review the logout and redirect flow for the relevant user roles.
Compatibility notes
If plugin scripts cause a MailPoet admin page conflict, add the ina_logout_mailpoet_conflict_fix filter to functions.php and set it to return false. Users of Slimstat Analytics versions up to 4.6.2 may encounter a colorpicker JavaScript conflict; the source notes that this was fixed in later Slimstat versions.
