Glossary by Codeat PRO: Control Term Linking
Glossary by Codeat PRO organizes specialized language, product information, and recurring concepts as glossary or dictionary entries. It automatically links matching terms in posts and pages to their definitions, giving readers a way to find explanations while they read. The add-on works with the classic WordPress editor and Gutenberg.

Organize terms and select where they appear
Group terms by category and make vertical archives with the Lists of Terms and Lists of Categories shortcodes. Choose whether glossary functions run across the website or on selected pages, archives, taxonomies, and custom post types. Linked terms can be highlighted or shown with a tooltip on hover. The included free features also provide four tooltip templates, internal or external links, synonyms for the same term, and an icon for external links.
PRO controls for term behavior and show
The PRO edition includes the free feature set, plus advanced tooltip styling and controls for tooltip behavior on mobile. It can generate footnotes for glossary terms, match case-sensitive terms, and link only the first occurrence of the same or any key term. You can also prevent term links from appearing on a term’s own description page.
Indexes, editors, and custom fields
Create an alphabetically ordered term list or place a customizable glossary index with the PRO shortcode or block. Customize index blocks in Gutenberg, Elementor, Fusion Builder, Divi, Beaver Builder, and SiteOrigin. Add custom fields to key terms and use the Advanced Custom Fields integration. Advanced shortcodes parse content for Visual Composer and other page builders.
Additional glossary utilities
Widgets provide a glossary search bar, latest terms, and glossary categories. The plugin works with CSV term imports, Schema.org DefinedTerm, and ChatGPT integration for generating term content; the ChatGPT integration requires an OpenAI API key. Other integrations include Yoast SEO, Ninja Forms, Elementor, Bricks Builder, Fixed TOC, Easy Table of Contents, YARPP, User Role Editor, WPML, and Polylang. Custom theme integrations are available for Bricks, Divi, and Genesis, and migration from CM Glossary Tooltip is supported.
Use glossary entries to explain ingredients on a food site, equipment in an online store, or terms in a fan encyclopedia. Affiliate publishers can add term descriptions and affiliation URLs to tooltip areas.
Set up a glossary
Install the plugin on the WordPress site, create terms and definitions, then configure matching, links, tooltip presentation, and the content areas where glossary features should run. Add a glossary index with the PRO shortcode or block and customize it in a supported visual editor when needed. The PRO edition includes dedicated support, and documentation and a demo site are available as references.
