Package WordPress sites for backup or transfer

Duplicator Pro combines a site's documents and database in a backup package you can download or install at another host, domain, or server. Its migration wizard guides the installation, including at an empty destination where WordPress has not been set up separately. The same workflow can create a clone for a staging environment.

Choose a full website package or select components such as add-ons, themes, or media for a custom backup. For WordPress multisite, Pro can back up or migrate a network, filter which subsites to include, install a subsite as a standalone site, or import a site into a network.

Schedule backups and select destinations

Set recurring backups to run hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly, and save templates to reuse backup options. Send packages to Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon S3, FTP/SFTP, or an S3-compatible storage provider. Pro supports multiple storage destinations for a backup.

Build and protect backup packages

The chunked backup engine breaks work into smaller steps to help larger backups complete on shared hosting with strict server timeouts. Select an archive engine for your server: DupArchive, ZipArchive, or shell zip. Database settings include mysqldump and chunked PHP. Backups can build in the background while you continue working.

AutoTune runs test backups to find settings for the hosting environment. Before a backup, Duplicator checks the server configuration and explains problems in plain language, with a one-click fix where available. Password protection and AES-256 archive encryption are available, and the security status of each backup is visible.

Restore or prepare a staging site

When you need a saved backup, restore it from the WordPress dashboard with one click, without FTP or a manual installer upload. To test updates, theme changes, or other site work, install a clone in a separate staging environment.

Start a backup or migration

Install Duplicator Pro in WordPress and open it from the dashboard. Create a backup package using the archive and database settings available for your server, or configure a recurring schedule and storage destinations. For a migration, download or store the package, install it at the destination, then follow the migration wizard.
