Build maps from WordPress locations

MapPress Pro extends MapPress with search, geolocation, and filtering for maps and store locators. Use it for collections such as offices, shops, real estate listings, travel routes, delivery areas, and directories. Maps can be added to posts, pages, or custom post types using Gutenberg map blocks or the classic editor. MapPress also supports shortcodes and map generation with PHP.

When locations come from multiple posts, a Gutenberg mashup block can combine them in one searchable map. Map and mashup widgets provide additional placement settings in WordPress layouts.

Choose a map engine

MapPress supports Google Maps, Mapbox, and Leaflet maps using OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap data. Google Maps and Mapbox require an API key; OpenFreeMap does not. Maps are stored independently of the engine, so you can switch engines without losing them.

Organize search results and markers

Pro search, geolocation, and filters help visitors narrow a collection of locations. You can upload custom marker artwork or use the marker editor’s thousands of icons, shapes, and colors. Customizable templates control how markers and lists appear. Icons can also be assigned automatically by taxonomy, tag, or category.

MapPress Pro can generate maps automatically from custom fields and integrates with Advanced Custom Fields. These options connect location details in WordPress content to maps and searchable directories.

Control map display and data

Responsive maps can be sized in pixels, percentages, or viewport units. Popups can contain custom text, photos, pictures, and links. MapPress also supports styled maps, marker clustering, Google overlays for traffic, bicycling, and transit, and directions from Google Maps. Available geocoders include Google, Nominatim, and Mapbox.

For routes and drawn areas, maps can use KML overlays, GPX tracks, polygons, circles, and lines. The plugin also supports WPML and WordPress Multisite.

Set up a map

1. Install and activate MapPress in WordPress.
2. Choose a map engine, then make a map in Gutenberg or the classic editor.
3. Add locations and markers, then set the map size and presentation.
4. Apply Pro features such as search, filters, custom markers, or a mashup as needed.

If you choose Google Maps or Mapbox, provide the required API key. OpenFreeMap maps do not require one.
