Open User Map PRO extends a WordPress map add-on for community maps, directories, store locators, travel guides, event maps, and other collections of places. Based on Leaflet Map JS, it works with OpenStreetMap, OpenFreeMap vector, MapBox, and other map styles. A Google Maps API key is not required.

Add maps with Gutenberg blocks, Elementor widgets, or shortcodes. Add markers yourself, or let visitors submit locations through a frontend form. Submissions can wait for approval before appearing on the map. You can also restrict submissions to registered visitors or allow configured users to publish without approval. Filter locations and draw on the map

Group locations into filterable categories and assign an icon to each category. Visitors can search markers, search addresses, and filter markers as they type. For more detailed browsing, add a sidebar that filters by configured custom fields, with optional custom HTML sections for extra information.

Visitors can draw routes, paths, zones, or boundaries directly on the map. A custom picture layer can use a floor plan, event map, seating plan, or fantasy map while retaining map interactions, clustering, and popups. Region tabs help visitors move between places on maps that cover distant areas.

Choose which locations appear and how they are presented

Limit a map to selected categories or post IDs, including one location, through block settings or shortcode attributes. Single location pages are optional. When enabled, locations can use a post thumbnail, excerpt, and default content template; query loop blocks can make custom lists or grids.

Use [open-user-map-location] to display a selected location value, [open-user-map-gallery] to show location pictures linked to their map markers, or [open-user-map-list] for a list of locations. Locations can include descriptions, images, audio, and other media; PRO also supports YouTube and Vimeo videos. CSV import and export help add or update groups of locations.

Manage contributions and extend the map

Registered users can be given permission to read, edit, and delete their own locations from the map. PRO also includes location votes and star ratings, email notifications for submitted or approved locations, and webhooks for location creation or updates. A current location button can move the map to a visitor's position.

For custom development, the extension provides JavaScript and CSS inputs, WordPress hooks, a hook for changing location data before rendering, and a PHP function for retrieving a location value. URL parameters can highlight a particular marker after a submission or redirect.

Set up a map

Create a map and select its style, marker presentation, fields, and submission settings. Add your markers or enable frontend submissions and approval, then place the map with Gutenberg, Elementor, or a shortcode.
