Google XML Sitemaps Generator Pro organizes WordPress URLs into XML and other sitemap formats for search engine discovery. Choose a single XML sitemap that gathers links in one file, or a sitemap index that groups multiple sitemaps by content type. Supported content includes pages, posts, custom post types, taxonomies, archives, authors, categories and tags. WooCommerce products, categories and tags are supported as well.

XML sitemap structure and content rules

Settings control which supported content appears in a sitemap and let you set priority and frequency values. Pro adds rules to exclude individual pages, posts and custom posts, exclude categories and tags, or include only selected categories and tags. For an individual page, post or custom post type, you can set its priority and frequency or exclude it.

The add-on also works with custom internal or external URLs, custom sitemap files in a sitemap index, and custom sitemap URLs.

HTML sitemap for site navigation

Create an HTML sitemap that lists selected pages, posts and custom post types. Choose the post types with a multiselect option, then show the sitemap with a shortcode or a widget or block for Elementor, Gutenberg or WPBakery.

News, image and video sitemap formats

The Google News sitemap can include a publication name, language, title and publication date. Its options include a custom publication name and sitemap URL. The plugin supports WPML, Polylang and TranslatePress, and follows the Google Publisher Center sitemap protocol.

Image sitemaps can include pictures found in pages, posts and custom post content. They follow the Google Image Sitemaps structure and can be split into multiple sitemaps through an index. Options include custom image sitemap URLs and hiding image previews. Pro adds MIME type settings, exclusion of broken images, featured images, WooCommerce galleries and custom post types.

Video sitemaps collect videos from pages, posts and custom post content containing a playlist shortcode or tag. Pro adds YouTube, Vimeo and X videos, along with custom post types. Video sitemaps can use an index and a custom sitemap URL.

Caching and administration

Sitemap caching includes an expiration setting, a display of the last cached time and an option to clear the cache. Pro adds smart caching. Other tools include import and export settings, robots.txt integration and WP-CLI sitemap generation. The plugin is compatible with Yoast SEO, Rank Math and The SEO Framework, including their noindex settings. It also supports IndexNow for Microsoft Bing, Seznam.cz, Naver and Yandex.

Pro includes a broken-link scan for links and images in published content included in the sitemap. Results identify broken links, redirects and URLs that could not be checked. You can recheck or ignore a URL, and schedule scans daily, weekly or monthly.

Setup

Install and activate the plugin in WordPress, then open Settings > XML Sitemaps. Choose the sitemap structure, content types and formats, and configure the available content rules, language settings and caching settings. Save the settings and review the generated sitemap outputs.
