Real Cookie Banner PRO: Consent controls for WordPress
Real Cookie Banner PRO extends WordPress cookie and service consent management under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive. A website scan identifies services that may need consent, recommends matching templates, and can flag unknown services. The scanner does not scan for every cookie or determine whether data processing is lawful. The configuration needed depends on the website and how its services are used.
How consent controls service loading
Real Cookie Banner PRO extends WordPress cookie and service consent management under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive. A website scan identifies services that may need consent, recommends matching templates, and can flag unknown services. The scanner does not scan for every cookie or determine whether data processing is lawful. The configuration needed depends on the website and how its services are used.
After setup, configured consent controls determine when selected services, scripts, and embedded content load. Consent records are stored in the WordPress database so their origin can be traced later. Administrators can also be notified when new consent needs to be obtained.
PRO templates and banner settings
- More than 160 service templates provide technical and legal information for supported services. More than 130 content blocker templates help manage themes, extensions, scripts, styles, and iframes that may set cookies or transfer personal data.
- Advanced content blockers provide visual replacements and controls for holding selected content until consent is given.
- Consent statistics help you review collected consents. The add-on can request consent for data processing in insecure third countries.
- Banner styling presets and customization options let you adjust colors, effects, and text, with changes shown in a live preview.
- PRO includes Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) support, geo-restriction, and support for Google Tag Manager and Matomo Tag Manager. Consent forwarding is available where the configuration supports it.
Set up and maintain consent
Start with the guided checklist and scan the website for services that may need consent. Add or review the relevant service and content blocker information, organize services into groups, then configure opt-in or opt-out scripts for each service. Use the live preview while adjusting the banner and blockers, then test how each service behaves when consent is granted or withheld. Review the configuration as the website changes. The utilities support consent setup, while the correct configuration for each website and use case remains the site owner's responsibility.
