How WordPress content becomes map points

CodePeople Post Map for Google Maps places maps in posts or WordPress templates and displays locations associated with that content. On a single post, a map can show its geolocation and, optionally, recent posts from related categories. In a template, markers can represent posts on the page; hovering over a marker highlights the related post.

Premium and Developer are the paid editions. Premium includes tools for managing points, filtering and presenting map data, routes, search, imports, and dynamic locations. Developer includes the Premium feature set, plus contact forms and other point-linked settings.

Choose which points appear

• Load points from specific posts, categories, tags, or all posts. Post search can use location information and descriptions.
• Associate multiple points with a post or page. Maps can use any public post type and display a map for each post on non-singular pages.
• Draw routes with travel-mode options and add shapes. Add a place search box or make a legend from categories, tags, or taxonomies to control point visibility.
• Add links for directions, Google Maps, or Street View. Display multiple maps on a post or page using the same points.
• Place maps in sidebar widgets and group markers into clusters.
• Show the visitor’s location and refresh it at intervals. Generate points from picture metadata or WordPress App geolocation.
• Export or import points through CSV or KML, and load KML layers from files.

Set map appearance

Paid map options control width, height, margins, alignment, map type, language, dragging, controls, zoom, and the number of points shown. Choose roadmap, satellite, terrain, or hybrid views. Dynamic zoom can fit all points in the map; with dynamic zoom disabled, set a fixed zoom value.

Show or hide information bubbles, open one by default, or display the map directly in a post or page. You can also use an icon to open it. If a point has no associated image, its information window can show the post’s featured image.

Developer contact options

Developer adds contact forms linked to map points and can send notification emails when visitors submit a form. Assign unique or global email addresses to points, use Contact Form 7 shortcodes in point descriptions, and use images associated with points as map icons.

Shortcodes and setup

Shortcode attributes can load points by category, multiple categories, or all points. You can reference a configured map by its map ID and set dimensions, alignment, zoom, map type, language, and other display options. Add maps to posts, pages, templates, widgets, and other supported WordPress locations.

Install the selected paid edition in WordPress, then configure map settings and point locations. Add maps to posts or templates with the add-on shortcode, or use the available settings to associate maps with content. Configure filters, routes, clusters, imports, widgets, or Developer contact-form options for the layout you need.
