Optimization and site controls
Clearfy's settings cover performance, code cleanup, search-related settings, and routine administration. Performance controls include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript minification, critical CSS, and deferred scripts and styles. Its page caching stores front-end page content as static HTML files on the server. Depending on the settings and HTTP request, a cached file can be served instead of generating the page through WordPress, its add-ons, and the database.
- Code cleanup options remove selected WordPress output, such as feeds, emojis, and embeds.
- Search settings include robots.txt controls and options for selected archive and attachment pages that can make duplicate pages.
- Administration settings cover updates, comments, notices, the Heartbeat API, widgets, and post revisions.
- The asset manager can disable selected theme and plugin scripts or styles where they are not needed.
Review the available functions and enable those that fit the site. Check the page-caching configuration after turning it on.
Check for overlapping plugin settings
Clearfy can be used alongside other WordPress plugins, though similar functions may conflict. Choose which plugin will handle each shared task and disable the overlapping setting in the plugin not handling it. For example, if Autoptimize handles file combining and minification, turn off Clearfy's HTML compression option. Apply the same check to other shared functions, such as caching or Heartbeat controls.
Install and troubleshoot
Install Clearfy through the WordPress plugins screen or upload its files, then activate it from the Plugins screen. Open Settings > Clearfy - disable unused capabilities to review and configure the controls.
If activation causes an error, deactivate Clearfy from the dashboard when you can access it. If the dashboard is unavailable, remove the plugin through FTP. Before reactivating individual functions, review settings that overlap with other plugins.
