Prepare the video and player
Choose a supported video source, then set the player presentation and controls. Pro offers a React Video Player Engine built with React and Media Chrome, Video.js player layouts, and the Vidstack player engine. Available controls include playback, volume, fullscreen, seeking, rewind, fast-forward, restart, a download toggle, Picture-in-Picture, and AirPlay. Set autoplay or mute behavior and pick a poster image from the WordPress media library.
Additional Pro options include HLS (.m3u8) and DASH (.mpd) streaming, Mux video integration, and external sources such as Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, and BunnyCDN. Styling and playback options include custom aspect ratios, glass-style control backdrops, shadows, border settings, multilingual VTT subtitle tracks, playback speed from 0.5x to 2.0x, lazy loading and preloading, and Google Cast or Chromecast support.
Choose a block for the viewing task
- Video Gallery: Arrange videos in grid, masonry, carousel, or bento layouts, with category filters and an integrated lightbox player.
- Video Playlist: Pair a player with a clickable episode queue, chapters, automatic advance, and watched-state persistence.
- Video Lightbox: Open a supported video in a responsive modal from a thumbnail, button, or play-icon overlay. Heavy player assets load after the user chooses to play.
- Video Reels: Create a vertical, swipe-driven short-form video feed for posts, pages, or templates.
- Video Comparison: Present two videos side by side with a draggable before-and-after slider and synchronized playback.
- Video Testimonial Card: Pair a customer photo and attributed quote with a star rating and an inline-playable video clip.
- Video Transcript: Show a synchronized, clickable transcript alongside a video so viewers can jump to a moment in the recording.
Add and publish a player
Install and activate the Video Player Block plugin. Open the Gutenberg editor on the post, page, or template where the video belongs, insert the relevant block, choose the source, and configure the player or layout before publishing. Use a gallery or playlist for multiple videos, a lightbox when playback should start from a visitor's trigger, or Reels for a vertical feed.
The shortcode generator can create a player for classic content, widgets, or page builders that support shortcodes. For a saved Video Player, use [video_player id="123"] and replace 123 with that player's post ID. Multiple players can be added throughout a site without a stated limit.
