Design and position popups
Create unlimited popups and select from nine placement settings. Adjust fonts, colors, backgrounds, borders, shadows, and close-button behavior to suit the content and page layout. Backgrounds can use images or solid colors.
Set popup opening and closing behavior
Page-load, scroll, click, and delay triggers control when a popup opens. Popup Box Pro includes hover, right-click, text-selection, and exit-intent triggers. Loop popups can appear at random intervals. Set an auto-close timer, redirect visitors after a popup closes, or limit a popup to once per session. Overlay and shadow effects help distinguish popup content from the page.
Rules for where and when a popup appears
Display rules can display popups on selected posts, pages, or across the site. URL parameter activation shows a popup when a query string is present, while referrer targeting lets you address visitors arriving from specific sources. Additional rules can control visibility by:
- User location
- WordPress visitor role
- Desktop or mobile device
- Browser
- Language preference
- Selected dates or times
These conditions help tailor messages to different visitors and control when campaigns execute.
Shortcodes, forms, and effects
Use the [videoBox] shortcode to add YouTube or Vimeo videos. The [buttonBox] shortcode adds styled buttons or popup-close triggers, and [iframeBox] inserts content such as maps, documents, or external sites. Popup content can also include Contact Form 7, WPForms, and other shortcode-based content.
Choose from 28 entrance animations. The forced-interaction option temporarily disables the close button for critical actions, so use it carefully.
Installation and setup
Install through the WordPress plugins screen or upload the add-on documents to the /wp-content/extensions/ directory, then activate the plugin. Create a popup with the live preview editor and choose its placement, content, trigger, and display rules before publishing.
If a popup does not appear
Caching can prevent a configured popup from appearing. Clear browser, WordPress, and server-side caches, then check the popup again. If it is still missing, temporarily disable caching while checking the configuration. If the popup is visible to administrators but not regular visitors, check whether Test Mode is enabled; in that mode, popups are limited to administrators.
