WordPress plugin
Permalink Manager Pro for Custom WordPress URLs
Edit the permalink for each post, page, or custom post type item, or define a reusable URL format in Permastructures with tags such as %custom_post_type% and %custom_taxonomy%. New posts and terms can use a format automatically. To apply a changed format to existing items, regenerate their permalinks.
Set individual permalinks or shared formats
Edit the permalink for each post, page, or custom post type item, or define a reusable URL format in Permastructures with tags such as %custom_post_type% and %custom_taxonomy%. New posts and terms can use a format automatically. To apply a changed format to existing items, regenerate their permalinks.
Choose which post types and taxonomies to manage, leaving the rest out of the add-on’s URL controls. Permalink Manager supports custom post types and taxonomies registered by WordPress add-ons. You can remove base slugs from custom post type and taxonomy URLs, keep or remove parent slugs, or add categories to post and custom post type URLs. Category-based formats can use the primary category set in a supported SEO plugin.
Pro controls for taxonomy and WooCommerce URLs
Permalink Manager Pro extends the free version with permalink controls for categories, tags, and custom taxonomy terms. Edit each term’s URL or change term formats in bulk through Permastructures.
For WooCommerce, customize URLs for products, product tags, categories, and attributes. You can remove the /product/ and /product-category/ segments or add SKUs to product permalinks.
Custom fields and multilingual structures
Add custom field values from ACF and other custom field add-ons to URL formats without writing code. If WPML or Polylang is active, translate slugs and set a separate Permastructure for each language.
Redirects and REST API access
Permalink Manager automatically redirects old and duplicate URLs to the correct page. You can also create aliases for posts, pages, and terms, then assign a redirect URL that sends users to an external address. The REST API lets you read and update custom permalinks and redirects.
Setup and operating considerations
Install the plugin on your WordPress site, choose the post types and taxonomies to manage, then adjust individual permalinks or term structures. For multilingual URLs, configure the relevant WPML or Polylang integration.
The plugin is optimized for standard WordPress sites that typically have fewer than a few thousand URLs. It stores custom permalinks in one database row and can process URLs with one database query. If you disable the plugin, custom permalinks are no longer used. Removing it is suitable if you used it only to regenerate native post-name slugs. Compatibility with BuddyPress is not guaranteed.
