Read visit and session details
Activity records can include last-seen information, session duration, page name and URL, IP address, location based on IP, and referrer URL. For logged-in users, records can also include username, email address, and role. URL query strings, including UTM parameters, are logged. A custom timezone setting controls how times appear in the activity log.
Set the tracking scope
Administrators can track only logged-in users or limit tracking to selected roles, such as subscribers. An automatic logout option can be configured for idle users. Premium also lets administrators choose which custom post types and archives to track.
Follow selected actions
Event goals can monitor actions such as clicking a button, downloading a PDF, or using a mailto link. Email notifications can be enabled when an event is triggered, so administrators can review selected activity without repeatedly checking the log.
Search and use activity records
Search and advanced filters help narrow the log. Export records to CSV for further review, or use Premium REST API endpoints to retrieve activity logs in JSON format.
Storage and setup
The add-on stores no cookies on visitors’ computers. Activity data is stored locally on the website, and IP addresses can be anonymized. The plugin is described as GDPR, CCPA, and privacy ready; configure tracking in line with your site’s requirements.
Install the User Activity Tracking and Log plugin and its Premium add-on, then open the plugin options. Choose users, roles, post types, and archives to track, and configure session, event, privacy, timezone, filter, export, and notification options. Create event goals for the actions you want to monitor, then review the log as visitors use the site.
WordPress Multisite is supported. Each subsite has its own tracking log and database. The plugin is also described as compatible with WordPress sites and themes, WooCommerce, and other user registration add-ons.
