Build forms for a MailChimp list

Optin Cat Premium, Business, and Elite are the paid editions of Forms for Mailchimp by Optin Cat. Bloggers, marketers, and small businesses can use them to create signup forms in WordPress without coding. You need a self-hosted WordPress site, a MailChimp account, and at least one MailChimp list. The add-on supports an unlimited number of forms.

Choose where each form appears

• Post boxes can sit within or below posts and pages. Add them with a shortcode or Gutenberg MailChimp block, or append them automatically to posts, pages, or categories.
• Sidebar widgets place a form in the site sidebar.
• Lightbox popups show a form over page content.

Responsive layouts help forms display across devices. Design controls include font sizes, colors, and other layout options. Analytics let you compare how various MailChimp forms perform.

Paid popup and optin controls

The paid editions include mobile MailChimp popups, mobile Campaign Monitor popups, additional layout and design options, and popup effects. MailChimp single optin can disable double optin. Two-step optins open after a user clicks a hyperlink, and optin bait delivery sends the resource directly from WordPress.

Popup targeting can set display frequency, wait for a time-on-page threshold, respond to scrolling, and limit display to selected posts, pages, or categories. Premium adds targeting by pageviews during the current visit. Exit intervention, which shows a popup as a visitor is about to leave, is included in Business and Elite. The paid feature list also includes priority email support.

Connect and publish a form

In the WordPress dashboard, go to Optin Cat and pick Add New. Select a form type and layout, configure its design, connect it to your MailChimp account and list, then set a Thank You page. Publish a popup from its Publication section. Post boxes can use a shortcode, Gutenberg block, or automatic placement; add sidebar widgets through the WordPress Widgets screen.

Data and privacy

Names and email addresses collected through forms are stored in the WordPress database. The plugin integrates with WordPress privacy controls for data export and deletion, and uses a browser cookie to track successful optins. If you connect a third-party service such as MailChimp, personal data may also be shared with that service.
