Magic Post Thumbnail PRO finds images from photo sources or generates them with AI for WordPress posts. Assign an image as the featured image or place it in post content. Choose a source and image location, then generate while editing or automate image work for posts and taxonomies.

Post context and image sources

Searches can use a post title or text analysis. PRO includes tags, categories, paragraph analysis, custom fields, custom requests and the OpenAI keyword extractor. These inputs can give image selection more direction when a title leaves out useful context.

The free source set includes Bing Images, GPT Image, Google Image API, Pixabay, Openverse and Flickr. PRO adds Unsplash and Pexels, along with Stable Diffusion, Replicate, Ideogram, Flux 2, Gemini (Nano Banana) and Grok. Arrange sources in a fallback chain; if the first source fails, the extension tries the next. You can also use the first image already in a post or a default fallback image. Image and AI providers set their own quotas and billing.

Style presets such as photorealistic, cinematic and no text apply only to AI sources. You can optionally add a title or logo bar to a generated image; the overlay is off by default. Image modifications include horizontal flipping and cropping by 10%.

Generation and placement

• Generate or regenerate from the Gutenberg or Classic Editor, or use the action in the posts list.
• Use the Gutenberg block to search an image source, insert an image or set a featured image. PRO provides more results in the block.
• Run bulk actions for selected posts or a taxonomy.
• Choose several image locations in one generation.
• Schedule generation with customisable crons.
• Extend processes through imports and supported integrations.

PRO compatibility includes REST, WPeMatico, FeedWordPress, WP All Import, Featured Image from URL, CMB2, ACF and Meta Box. Restricted domains and a proxy are also available.

Setup and support

1. Activate the plugin and open Magic Post Thumbnail. The dashboard health check shows whether the source chain and API keys are ready, and a one-click test can generate a test draft.
2. Under Source, arrange the fallback chain by priority and enter the required API keys.
3. Under Automatic, select the post types to process and where images should go.

For individual posts, generate from the editor or posts list. Use bulk actions for selected posts or a taxonomy, and use imports or a scheduled cron for automated workflows. Images can be assigned as featured images or inserted into post content according to the chosen location.

PRO includes priority support with replies within 24 hours. Translations include English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic and Ukrainian, among other listed languages.
