How Does Comet Cache Pro Cache WordPress Pages?
Comet Cache Pro creates snapshots of supported pages, posts, categories, links, archives, and feeds. When caching is enabled, a request qualifies, and a usable cache file exists, the add-on can serve that copy instead of repeating database connections and PHP processing. The settings panel controls caching behavior and expiration.
Reuse eligible WordPress requests
Comet Cache Pro creates snapshots of supported pages, posts, categories, links, archives, and feeds. When caching is enabled, a request qualifies, and a usable cache file exists, the add-on can serve that copy instead of repeating database connections and PHP processing. The settings panel controls caching behavior and expiration.
By default, cached pages are not served to logged-in customers or recent commenters. Administrative and login pages, POST, PUT, and DELETE requests, GET requests with query strings, and CLI processes are also excluded. Pro can enable logged-in user caching, which may fit membership sites. Query-string options control whether those URLs are cached. URI, user-agent, and HTTP referrer exclusion patterns support wildcards.
Set clearing rules and permissions
Automatic and intelligent cache clearing can respond to changes in posts, pages, custom post types, categories, tags, links, themes, users, and other supported content. You can also clear a list of custom URLs, run custom PHP code when the cache is cleared, and grant cache-clearing permissions by role or capability. Pro includes an admin-bar Clear Cache button that can be enabled or disabled, and an option to disable dashboard notifications about automatic clearing.
Import or export Comet Cache configuration files, and use a dynamic version salt to personalize the caching engine. Other settings include automatic cache expiration, client-side caching, caching for 404 requests, and RSS, RDF, and Atom feed caching.
Review cache and server activity
Cache Statistics show cache status, with charts for the page cache, HTML Compressor cache, PHP OPCache, and server health. Server Load Monitoring can pause cache regeneration when the server exceeds a configured load average. The HTML Compressor can combine and compress CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. The Auto-Cache Engine can pre-cache the site at 15-minute intervals.
Apache options include web-server GZIP compression, browser caching, and canonical URL rules. Static CDN filters can serve selected or all static files through configured CDN hosts, with support for multiple host names, domain sharding, and multisite networks.
Mobile, multisite, and developer controls
Mobile Mode supports multiple cache versions for adaptive designs. Multisite Host Exclusion Patterns let you exclude selected child blogs from caching. Pro also supports WP-CLI, ManageWP, and InfiniteWP, and includes an advanced cache-add-on system for theme and plugin developers. Its automatic updater can update Comet Cache Pro from the WordPress dashboard.
Installation
Comet Cache Pro is self-contained and does not require Comet Cache Lite. If Lite is installed, deactivate and delete it first. In WordPress, open Dashboard > Plugins > Add New, choose Upload Plugin, pick the Comet Cache Pro ZIP file, install it, and activate the plugin. Then open Dashboard > Comet Cache > Plugin Options > Enable/Disable and enable caching. The listed requirements are PHP 5.4+ and Apache 2.1+.
