Choose targets in the block editor
FooBox adds controls to core Button, Image, Gallery, and Group blocks. Image blocks can use media-file links and set captions, style, theme, gallery grouping, maximum dimensions, and large-image panning. FooBox Pro adds opening effects. Gallery blocks can pass their style, theme, grouping, and Pro opening effects to their child Image blocks.
Button blocks can open images or automatically detected image URLs. Their settings can include the target, width, height, captions, style, theme, and gallery group. FooBox Pro is required for video, iframe, and hidden HTML targets, as well as video poster controls. An opt-in compatibility setting lets FooBox take over Image and Gallery blocks that use WordPress's own “Open in lightbox” option.
To display hidden inline content, add a Group block and build its contents with normal blocks. In the Group's FooBox panel, enable “Use as hidden FooBox content” and set or generate an HTML id. Leave “Hide on front end” enabled when the content should appear only inside FooBox. Then add a Button block, enable FooBox, select HTML content, and set its Lightbox URL or target to the Group id. This hidden-content workflow requires FooBox Pro.
Set the lightbox presentation
FooBox Pro works with social sharing across 10+ networks, deeplinking, fullscreen viewing, and slideshow mode. Choose the Glass, Metro, or Flat theme; Glass also has custom color pickers. Presentation controls include five color schemes, 12 button icons, 11 loader icons, 12 animation effects, and more than 85 settings.
Manage existing content and assets
Enable Auto Link Existing Images to wrap older unlinked WordPress attachment images on the frontend, so visitors can open them without editing old posts.
FooBox includes its JavaScript and CSS assets on pages by default. You can instead exclude them by default and choose pages that need them, or keep the default inclusion and exclude assets from selected pages. Block-editor controls remain available when preparing content before upgrading to FooBox Pro.
