Category Posts Block Premium for Flexible WordPress Post Displays
Category Posts Block Premium displays recent posts from selected categories or terms in Gutenberg and the Site Editor. Each block has its own settings, so various sections on one page can use different content sources and presentations.
Build lists from categories or terms
Category Posts Block Premium displays recent posts from selected categories or terms in Gutenberg and the Site Editor. Each block has its own settings, so various sections on one page can use different content sources and presentations.
Source and filter settings determine which posts appear. Layout and template settings determine how each post is shown, so you can adjust selection separately from presentation.
Choose which posts appear
Premium filters support combinations using ANY, NOT, and AND. Filter by post status, including published, scheduled, and private posts, or set a post offset to sequence results across multiple blocks. Date options include date-range filtering and a format that shows time since publication.
The block supports custom post types, including events and products. Templates can use custom fields, and editor toolbar buttons can insert shortcodes.
Set the layout and post details
Choose an auto-sizing grid, an asymmetrical list, a responsive masonry grid, full background pictures, an image slider, or a news ticker. These layouts let you arrange posts for the available space and content type.
The Template area controls which details appear in each post entry. Add post-detail placeholders, plain text, HTML, or HTML for SVG icons. Font icons are supported, and WordPress Dashicons can be used without adding another font-icon resource. Available post details include the title, excerpt, date, author, and comment count. Choose the title heading level, set excerpt length, and limit title or excerpt lines with line clamping.
Configure thumbnails and loading
Thumbnail settings include width and height controls, CSS cropping with object-fit, fluid sizing, optional hover effects, and default thumbnails. One thumbnail dimension can be left empty. You can hide posts without thumbnails, hide widget text when no posts appear, and choose whether the thumbnail or the complete item acts as a link.
A load-more button can use the Ajax API to fetch additional posts, so the initial list does not need to contain every result.
Set up a block
Add the Category Posts block in Gutenberg or the Site Editor and choose a category or term source. Configure the filters and presentation panels, select a layout, define the template, adjust thumbnails and text, then set footer or load-more behavior. Add separate blocks when sections need different settings.
Installation
Install the Premium edition on your WordPress website, then add the Category Posts block in Gutenberg or the Site Editor. When moving from the free extension to Pro, remove the free extension before installation.
