Separate mobile and desktop presentations

WPtouch Pro is the paid edition of a WordPress mobile add-on. It presents a streamlined theme to mobile visitors on websites whose desktop layouts, scripts, styles, or images do not translate well to smaller screens. The existing desktop theme continues to serve other visitors, and a link in the WPtouch view lets mobile visitors switch back to the regular site.

The mobile view retains features such as search, login, categories, tags, and comments. WPtouch uses a lightweight approach to serve optimized content to mobile visitors without modifying the site’s existing code.

Configure the mobile theme

Use the WPtouch administration panel and WordPress Customizer to adjust the mobile presentation. WPtouch Pro includes live preview in the Customizer, so changes can be reviewed while configuring the theme.

Install WPtouch Pro on the WordPress site, then select an available theme. If the site uses a caching plugin, configure that system to work with WPtouch. Incorrect cache settings can display the mobile theme to desktop visitors or the desktop site to mobile visitors. After configuration, check both views and test the link between them.

Themes and extensions for different sites

Enhanced themes are available for blogs, business websites, and WooCommerce retailers. Pro extensions add richer advertising options, advanced web font controls, caching, and other capabilities. One-on-one professional support is also available.

• Blogs: Present articles and essential navigation in a mobile-focused theme while retaining the desktop styling.
• Business websites: Configure a separate mobile presentation without rebuilding the regular WordPress theme.
• WooCommerce stores: Use an enhanced mobile theme designed for online stores, with available Pro extensions.
• Content and advertising: Add advertising options and web font controls to the mobile presentation.
